Symbolism: This rug is a representation of the agave plant, or Maguey plant, an integral part of life in the Central Valley of Oaxaca. The shape of the plant is simplified here in woven form. The Maguey plant provided the Zapotecs with fibers for their weavings long before the Spaniards brought their sheep. They also provide us with that magical beverage, mezcal as well as pulque. The leaves and flowers can be eaten and the plant is also known for its medicinal uses. Handwoven Rug made by the Zapotec weavers of Mexico.
Custom Made Orders: We love Happy customers. Please contact us if you have a specific color palette in mind.
